Blade
As you already know, it’s a tool focused on wet shaving. The Edwin de98bl comes with 5 double-edged blades and those are quite sharp. For a starter, it should be enough, to begin with, your wet shaving life.
The best part is, you can find other companies blade in case you want it. From Derby to feather, shark to Astra, 89BL is compatible with anyone.
We recommend you stick with the company mentioned above.
Handle functionality and grip
I hate to say, but probably grip is the only disadvantage you will find in Edwin Jagger De89bl model. It does not come with any vertical or horizontal grooves along the handle.
On the other hand, at the end of the razor, it has a knob from where you can analyze where razor actually ends. It also gives you an extra help to have a balanced grip.
The handle consists of tubular brass coated along with a chrome exterior. Again, the handle is short. But you all get a long handle model too.
And we strongly recommend you get that one only.
Length
Depending on your need & preference, there are 3 types of length settings you can get. One is regular, which is ok for us.
The company also introduced long or short handle. The only difference I see is the price.
Regular guys like me do not need much extra. So I settled with long Edwin Jagger De89bl model.

Aggressiveness
Speaking of hard or aggressiveness, it is one of the main reason why de89 is so popular. For the beginners, I can’t recommend enough. Honestly, I really do not know how to express my feelings.
When I first started, I was amazed how mild it was. I mean, the way it performed, I was quite sure and quickly analyzed the reason behind its popularity.
That being said, depending on your thickness of the beard, you might have to go for some shaper blades.
But, for the beginners & normal shaving enthusiastic, it’s just awesome.
Weight
Guys having medium sized hands won’t face any major problem holding it. I am sure you know that most of the razors in the market are about 8 CM in length. But this particular one, de89bl model is roughly about 9.5 CM.
On the other hand, measuring about the weight, it’s not that heavy. While the head is little heavier compared to the rest of the piece, it arguably OK for us. It weighs around 2.6 ounces.
Design
Finally, let’s talk about the design. We need it. Right?
Why?
No matter how it performs, if it’s not looking great people won’t go for it.
Razor should be balanced between look & fulfillment.
So how different 89BL model is from rest of the safety razors out there?
It consists of two parts. Die-cast & hand polished with chrome plated blade head. With triple plated handle and head components finished with flawless hard blue white chrome plated, scratch resistant coating, making their own way to become the top-notch DE razor in the market.
Color
Like every razor, you will find chrome plated color at the normal price range. However, it does come with two awesomely good & premium color.
One is rose gold octagonal & the other one is rose gold with black octagonal.
I kid you not, it’s not cheap man.
So, if you have a budget & need a fancy color, you can go with it.
Personally, I haven’t bought it yet. But in future, if I decide, I will go with gold & black mix. I just loved it.

Final Verdict
Well, in my honest opinion, it’s one of the best DE razors for beginners out there. Not too aggressive and shady. Perfect for sensitive skin too. The only issue I found is the grip. But that’s ok.
After all, you never get everything. We just have to adjust.
Regular or advanced users will definitely find it more mild & useful compared to other brands for sure.

How do I replace the blades?

Keep in mind, the razor is comprised of three pieces. The handle & the razor head is all you need at this moment. First, unscrew the handle & keep the head into two parts.
Once done, now you can remove the blade by using your thumb or forefinger. Now insert the blade & reverse the process.
