It’s officially the worldwide trend now.
Look at the road. 5 out of 10 people have a beard.
While the above statement is true, there is a downside.
Many of those people are struggling with acne under their beards. This leads to thinking that they cannot afford to have a beard.
What is the reason for it? Why this uncomfortable situation occurs?
Well, today, we are going to discuss a lot about this topic.
Let’s look at the definition.
Acne: The Definition
Acne is a common, obstinate, and recurrent problem that usually begins at puberty. It may stem from a normal increase in hormone levels that prompt the sebaceous glands to produce oils.
The main reason for acne is clogged pores, which will lead to bacteria and yeast overgrowth on the skin.
So, the question: Is growing the beard is a reason for acne?
Does beard cause acne?
Answer: Yes. It has a probability.
Have you seen/experienced razor bumps or burns? There is a medical term for it.
We have created a great article on how to get rid of razor bumps fast. You can access it from here.
But, there are no medical terms for acne under the beard. Also, there are no specific conditions for occurring it.
If you look at the reason for acne, you will see the following patterns:
- Poor food and diet, mainly containing a high level of iodine such as beef liver, broccoli, etc.
- Not sleeping properly
- Too much stress
- Doing drugs
- Blood sugar dysregulation
So due to the connections between acne and blood sugar regulation, hormone imbalance, stress, and systemic inflammation, this skin condition can be an early warning sign for metabolic syndrome.
What if you still have a problem? Should you shave?
If you really find it difficult to deal with beard acne, we suggest to shave it off once and see if you see it again or not.
Pro Tip: Before shaving, apply some medium hot water throughout your face and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then clean it up.

You want to grow a beard. So you better decide to give some of your attention to it. Here is how you should deal with it to fight beard acne.
During the daytime, our hair, including the beard, collects lots of dust & bacteria from the outside. So it is mandatory to wash it at least twice a day. Use warm water once and cold water a second time.
Use a facial cleanser.
There are hundreds of them. You do not need a fortune budget to buy. Just use a simple one to keep your beard and face more fresh and clear.
Use a beard oil.

Exfoliation is the secret.
Your beard is covering the skin. So how to exfoliate it? By using a beard brush. After putting some beard oil inside the beard, use a brush nicely so the oil can reach deep into the skin.
Shampoo your beard.
It’s still a debating question whether you should shampoo it or not. But, if you face beard acne, it’s better to do this minimal task at the time of showering.
