- Not very aggressive.

We don’t like
- Grip is not so convenient. Also not very cheap.
Quick review : Overall, it’s a decent razor not just for beginner but for also experience user. We have already written about it’s brother, 89BL model. & if you go & read that review, you will find no major differences between these two. It’s still on the mild side & shorter than 89. Grip is kind of not so convenient for the first time user. However, guys with a larger hand find it really useful.
This Edwin Jagger de87 review is a mini series of our previous 89bl post.
I must tell you Edwin jagger is a really famous company and their product is top notch. There is no denying fact about it.
But, like everyone, I used to get confused with all these models. Specifically 89Bl & this De87.
Then I found the truth. Actually, these two models are pretty similar in terms of look and performance. Just a few key points here & there and we will show you that with our experts help.
Our testing team at beard mantra decided to use both razors and found each one of them awesome. But, to understand the difference you need to read the whole section.
So, I advise you not to skip any part and pay close attention.
Who is this razor for?
This is great for beginner users. However, an advanced user can find it more easy and smooth. As they have already experience of handling it.
Why should you consider it?
Due to super mild & an attractive design, it makes a quality razor. I know that EJ has put a lot of effort on its quality and they don’t compromise it.
Is it pricey?
Yes & No.
Don’t get me wrong here. I agree that the DE87 model is on a pricier side. But keep in mind that, a razor can last your entire life if you do regular checkups. ( it’s not a patient though ) Try to clean it once in a month and immediately change the blades as they get dull.
If you look at the long run, the cost is minimal or even zero. Right?
If it lasts for even 10 years, I would say it’s a deal breaker.
Explaining the features & functionality of Edwin Jagger DE87 Model
Features & function:

The system of blade replacement:
Let’s first talk about the blade system. It’s a three piece razor & we like it due to the reason of extremely easy to use surface & procedure. If you have been shaving for a long time, you will realize that three-piece razors have less moving parts and they can give you a pleasant lifelong hand. Talking about the HEAD, its well constructed and blades seems not to move at all. So overall, we find it quite useful.
Weight:
The Edwin jagger de87 model is around 2.3 ounces and frankly speaking, it’s a little on the heavier side than it’s brother 89Bl. The handle was also similar like 89Bl. If you notice, average safety razor, you can easily compare their weight even with just one touch.
I am not saying it’s hard to distinguish from each other, but for the people who have larger hands, will love this as it’s a razor with 3.75 inches.
I must admit, it’s shorter than the 89 model and I can’t complain about it. The most safety razor in the market comes with similar range and they seem to work perfectly fine.
GRIP:
Ah. We found it in the previous model too. Here again. I guess grip is one of the biggest downfalls of this Edwin jagger de87 model too. Personally, I like gritty metal grip but with this model, you won’t get it. If you decide to purchase, keep this factor in mind. While shaving, be extra careful.
Aggressive or not:
From a beginner perspective, it’s a razor in between mild – aggressive. Part of their system making sure that you get a close shave while maintaining a secure shaving is what makes Edwin unique. Although you can use it without any learning curve, we recommend you get some knowledge about wet shaving and do your own diligence.
If you are having a thicker beard, we advise using some more advanced and sharp blades like the feather.
Final Verdict : Edwin jagger DE87 Model
This conclusion is coming straight from our testers. As per our knowledge and testing, we find the 87 model really helpful. Had a really good shaving experience. But that does not mean everyone would get the same. Along with the device or tool, you must know how wet shaving works.
That being said, it’s a great addition to your existing shaving kit or if you are a beginner, just starting out, it can be a great resource.
Look wise it’s absolutely stunning & they come in a really cool box. We all know how EJ produce their work. So rest assured you are in a good hand.
If I had a chance to talk with them, the only issue I would have raised is their grip. However, as time goes by, you will get used to it and possibly there would be no chance of getting your razor dropped or whatsoever.
I would love to know about your experience. So, kindly drop a comment with your experience after your couple of use.
